Type Locality and Naming

Along the Jilan River, Ziaetdin Mountains. V.V. Mikhailov, F.K. Divaev, 2000 (308, pp.96-98). First described and distinguished from the Katarmay suite under the name ankarimit-basaltic formation by V.V. Mikhailov in 1988 (308). Stratotype along the Jilan River.

Synonym: Dzhilandinskaya Suite, Джиландинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Alternation of agglomerate, boulder, and lapilli crystalloclastic tuffs of basic composition, consisting of rounded or lens-shaped fragments of basalts, ankarimits, amphibolites, crystalline slates, pyroxene, and other rocks, cemented by a chlorite matrix. In some sections, amygdaloidal basalts appear in the section. Thickness 120-140m.

Contacts with surrounding rocks are tectonic.

Regional extent

Central part of the Katarmay Mountains, two narrow sublatitudinal strips extending from the mouth of the Navruzalisa River on the west to the eastern end of the mountains - more than 23 km.
